It’s great to get really started – meeting the residents of Albert Drive in person and hearing their stories about dancing at home and what it means to them. Music too is important, what people love to dance to and the memories and significance that holds. This sharing time, exchange, is a privilege. There is laughter, there is wonder, there is sadness and there is joy. Some people dance, some talk and remember and some want to listen to and share the music they dance to. People really are extraordinary!
Everyone is different, and chooses to tell me different things. Some people choose to remain anonymous and others are happy to be known. I’m recording the stories and plan to create a listening booth of some sort so that we can hear each other and listen to the sounds of people dancing. We shall see what emerges! In the meantime I’m collecting….
And I’d love to meet more people. Please get in touch if you are interested janice@albertdrive.com
And the photo is from my walk to meet someone on Albert Drive. This shoe must have a story and I hope it’s a positive one. I was struck by the care that someone had taken, to tie it to the railing in the hopes that its owner might retrieve it.
